Kids Marathon Gainesville
LifeSouth and the Five Points of Life program are grateful for the support we received from the community, sponsors, parents and, especially, the children in making the Kids Marathon such a wonderful success. More than 2,500 children from Alachua County have registered for this event since 2007, spending months running their 25 miles prior to the final day of their 26.2-mile marathon.
The 6th annual Five Points Kids Marathon Gainesville is will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 and we hope to see this event continue to grow in our community, bringing the challenges and rewards of fitness to children from Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
What is the Kids Marathon?
This is an extension of the Five Points of Life Marathon which is on Sunday, February 19, 2012. The goal of the Kids Marathon is to promote good health and physical fitness by giving kids the opportunity to accomplish the goal of running an entire 26.2 miles, just like marathoners! The difference is that the kids will be running and training the distance between now and race day. They will complete the final 1.2 mile run on Saturday, February 18, 2012.
