kids marathon log sheet montThe Five Points of Life and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers are excited to invite you to be a part of the 2nd annual Five Points of Life Kids Marathon Montgomery. It will be held February 25, 2012.

The Kids Marathon originated in Gainesville, Florida in 2007 as a part of the Five Points of Life Race Weekend which is held annually in February. The first year had over 450 kids participate and continues to grow. The goal of the Kids Marathon is to promote good health and physical fitness by giving kids the opportunity to run or walk an entire 26.2 miles, just like marathoners.

To participate kids, Kindergarten through 8th grade, complete 25 miles, one at a time, during the months prior to the marathon, logging each mile on the log sheet. To finish the full marathon kids will run the last 1.2 miles on February 25, 2012 at 9 a.m. All participants will receive a Kids Marathon Montgomery race packet, race number (must be worn on race day), t-shirt and finishers medal. Kids must register in order to participate.

Registration

You can register online or download a Five Points 2012 Kids Race Registration Form-Montgomery. It is FREE to register before January 15, 2015; $5 before race day and $10 on race day.

Packet Pickup

Registrants will need to come to LifeSouth Community Blood Centers (4139 Carmichael Road., Montgomery, AL 36106) on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. to pick up their race packets, T-shirt and race number. Don’t forget to bring your completed log sheet to packet pickup. Some packets may be distributed at school through participants PE Teacher.

Race Day

Participants need to arrive at the start line (James W. Wilson, Jr. YMCA, 1445 Wilson Park Drive, Montgomery, AL 36106) by 8:45 a.m., on February 25, with their race numbers on. The race will begin promptly at 9 a.m.

Parents

Only one parent or guardian will be permitted to accompany each participant on the 1.2 mile run.

Teachers

We have created a certificate of achievement for you to fill out and give to those children that have completed any mileage for the Five Points of Life Kids Marathon. Download the certificate here.
