What is the Kids Marathon?
The Kids Marathon started in 2007 as part of the Five Points of Life Race Weekend held in Gainesville, Florida each February. The Five Points of Life Kids Marathon series has expanded to ten cities and reached over 4,000 children in 2015. The goal of the Kids Marathon is to promote good health and physical fitness by giving kids the opportunity to run or walk an entire 26.2 miles, just like marathoners! Kids complete 25 miles, one at a time, during the months prior to the marathon, logging each mile on the log sheet.
Children in kindergarten through eighth grade are eligible to participate, but must register for the event.
Only one parent or guardian will be permitted to accompany each participant on the 1.2 mile run. Other family members and friends are encouraged to attend and cheer on the participants during the run. Parents should not register to run. Only the kids will need to register in order to receive a t-shirt, race bib, and finishers medal.
We have created a certificate of achievement for you to fill out and give to those children that have completed any mileage for the Five Points of Life Kids Marathon.
