The Five Points of Life Foundation and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers invite you to be a part of the 5th Annual Five Points of Life Kids Marathon Hernando presented by Oak Hill Hospital and the 2nd annual 5K Hernando presented by Oak Hill Hospital. The Kids Marathon and 5K are scheduled for April 1, 2017 at the Target at Suncoast Crossing (3101 Aerial Way, Brooksville, FL 34604). The 5K will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the Kids Marathon will begin at 9:15 a.m.
Kids Marathon (grades k-8 only): FREE until March 7, $5 through March 31 and $10 on event day.
Hernando 5K (17 and under): $5 through March 31, $10 on event day.
Hernando 5K (18 years and over): $20 until February 1; $25 until Mrch 31; $30 on event day.
What is the Kids Marathon?
The Kids Marathon originated in Gainesville, Florida in 2007 as a part of the Five Points of Life Race Weekend which is held each February. The Kids Marathon series has now expanded to ten cities with over 4,000 participants annually. The goal of the Kids Marathon is to promote good health and physical fitness by giving kids the opportunity to run or walk an entire 26.2 miles, just like marathoners.
Kids Marathon Eligibility
To participate, kids in kindergarten through eighth grade complete 25 miles one at a time. Each mile can be recorded on the log sheet during the months prior to the marathon. To finish the full marathon, kids will run the last 1.2 miles on April 1, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. All participants will receive a Kids Marathon Hernando race packet, race number (must be worn on race day), t-shirt and finishers medal. Kids must register in order to participate. Kids Marathon participants may also register for the 5K.

Registrants may pick up their packet (includes T-shirt and race number) on Friday, March 31 at LifeSouth Community Blood Centers (12395 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613) from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Packets are also available for pick up starting at 7:00 a.m. on race day at the Target at Suncoast Crossing for both the Kids Marathon and 5K Hernando.
Kids Marathon: Participants need to arrive at the start line at the Target at Suncoast Crossing (3101 Aerial Way, Brooksville, FL 34604) by 8:45 a.m. on April 1 with their race numbers on. The race will begin promptly at 9:15 a.m.
5K: Participants need to arrive at the start line at the Target at Suncoast Crossing (3101 Aerial Way, Brooksville, FL 34604) by 7:45 a.m. on April 1 with their race numbers on. The race will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m.

Overall finishers and age group awards for the 5K will be given out at approximately 9:45 a.m. following the Kids Marathon. All Kids Marathon Participants will receive a medal as they cross the Finish Line.
Overall finisher awards will be given to the top three finishers for each gender. Age group awards will be dispersed to the top three finishers of each gender in the following age groups:

Kids Marathon Parents
Only one parent or guardian will be permitted to accompany each participant on the Kids Marathon. No adults will receive a Kids Marathon medal or Kids Marathon t-shirt. Other family members and friends are encouraged to attend and cheer on the participants during the run. Parents should not register to run. Only the kids will need to register in order to receive a t-shirt, race bib, and finisher’s medal.
We have created a certificate of achievement for you to fill out and give to those children that have completed any mileage for the Five Points of Life Kids Marathon.
